This zone is common for the three types of generation of points (on a series of curves, on a surface by distribution, a series of surfaces on grid).

The export of the coordinates is done in the units and the number of decimals defined in the options of the document part.


 


 


By defaults the coordinates of the points created are taken compared to the origin part. It is possible to select a coordinate system, a point of sketch or a summit, the coordinates will be calculated compared to this point.

 This point cannot be the same one as the starting point. If that must be the case, you must create one  on this point (or summit) and to select it.


  • ''To activate the preview'' - by checking this option, for each change and validation of information, you prévisualisez instantaneously the result in the chart window.

However, there are two default limits set for this preview:

    • Up to 500 generated points, the preview is displayed correctly, beyond a window of validation asks for to the user the authorization of display or not the points.

    • Beyond 2000 points, for reasons of performance, a message indicates that the preview is automatically disabled.


     


You can, however, continue to modify values (with the blind man). When you validate the parameters, the points are calculated and created.


  • ''To create the points in SOLIDWORKS'' - this options is generally checked and will generate one 2D sketch or one 3D sketch according to the geometry and of the selected parameters. For example this option will be unchecked if only export in a file is necessary.


  


If this option is not checked, only the file will be generated. This can be very useful, if the user wants to generate hundreds, to see thousands of points. In this case, the performances of SOLIDWORKS will not be good and it will be always possible to read again the file of points with ScanTo3D.


  • ''To export the points in a file'' - by checking this option it is possible to export the points calculated in a file of:
    • Type” Excel''. Then it is enough to record the file by giving him a name and a site.

By clicking on the icon  that makes it possible to reverse the direction (beginning or end) of generation of the points on the selected entities .


   


    • Type” Text“. At the time of export in a textual file, it is possible to select, among the list, the separating character. The choice is done between” ,'''' ;“or” Tabulation''. Then it is enough to record the file by giving him a name and a site.

  • ''Coordinate system'':

    • A point 2D or 3D of a sketch.
    • The end of an entity of 2D sketch or 3D.
    • A summit.
    • A coordinate system created beforehand.


Example - Export in an Excel file for the creation of 20 points on a curve 3D by selecting, as a new coordinate system, the summit 3D coincide with the 1ier not of the curve. The new reference mark keeps same orientation (X, Y, Z) that the total reference mark.
