How to force the quantity at the insertion of a component for the BOM?

In your SOLIDWORKS designs, library items (screws, hardware, etc...) can quickly weigh down the graphic and slow down rebuilding times, however this information is essential in your BOM.

It is also not possible, easily, to add components without geometry (ex: paint, oil, lubricant, etc...) with the necessary information in the bill of material (quantity, article code, ...)

Thanks to the tool BomComponents you can insert a virtual component without its geometry by defining the quantity to be displayed in the BOM.

To get the right information, selecting a library component allows you to choose the configuration to be used and duplicates the document and configuration-specific properties in the virtual document inserted in the assembly.

It is also possible to launch the SmartProperties tool during validation if you want to make changes to properties.
