The profile database is a library that lists all the profile bars you use in your shop. When you start a project, CuttingOptimization retrieves all the information from this database in order to optimize cuttings and offcuts from profile-based designs.


  • Creation of profile databases


The creation of the databases is done directly in Excel (.csv extension), this Excel file must be saved in the folder defined in the options   of locations. By default in the "Bases" folder of the utility installation folder.


 


  • Profile database management


To open the profile database management, use the icon .


 


This window allows you to visualize your databases, it is also possible to display the location options of these databases and to edit the tables.


- Change the location of the bases : .

This option displays the options window for changing the location of the profile bases.


- Available bases :

 


This drop-down menu displays all your profile bases and allows you to select one of these bases to display it in the management window.


- Edit the table :

The button allows you to open the Excel file (.csv) of the database displayed in the window to modify it.

 

This file contains all the information useful for the study for each of the profiles: the density, cutting time, loading time, stop adjustment time, etc...

After editing the file, save it as a .csv file


- SOLIDWORKS Profiles :

This button allows you to create your profile base directly from your profile base used for welded elements (see Profile imports).

Here the result shows that some values of section and mass are expressed in different units. Indeed, the CuttingOptimization tool retrieves this information from the files in your database. The name retrieves the Description property, but you can define another property (see Profile imports).
