As the name suggests, we will set the general behavior options of the SmartProperties utility.

  • ''Force document registrationIf you check this option, the SOLIDWORKS document will be saved at each validation of SmartProperties. If the document is already saved, the options of the renaming parameters.
  • ''Choice of properties to insert (CheckBox)This option adds a checkbox in front of groups and properties in the SmartProperties tree. When the box is checked the property is created, if the box is unchecked the property is grayed out and is not created.

When SmartProperties is launched with the Configuration option ''.Related to the documentAll boxes are checked by default, they can be unchecked separately.

When you check the Configuration option ''.This ConfigurationThe properties are created in the tab ''Specific to the configuration'' of the document. This option allows you to create only the properties with a different value in the configurations,  and all properties where the value does not change are created in the "Document related" tab. This avoids creating all properties in all configurations.

In this last case ''This configurationif a property has been created and SmartProperties is launched again on the same file, if we uncheck this property it will be removed from the tab  ''Configuration specific'' to SmartProperties validation.

  • ''Access by a passwordA password will be required to access the SmartProperties settings.
  • ''Disable document change'' :  when working with SmartProperties in the context of an assembly or a drawing, this option prevents from being able to select components (part or assembly) in the tree to directly assign properties without opening the documents.
  • ''Display a warning message if changes are not validated in selection mode'' : lhen changing the document type in assembly mode or when selecting a weldment list folder, if the modifications entered in SmartProperties are not applied to the document, a warning message will appear:

  • ''Hide the component during validation (assembly mode with pin)In an assembly when you pin SmartProperties and fill in the properties of a component, after validation the component is hidden in the graphic area, which allows you to know which components remain to be filled in. When SmartProperties is closed, the hidden components are automatically shown again.

''Use a different property name for the input mask'' : this option adds a field in the properties tab of the document to specify a name according to the language. This name will be visible in the input mask, but will not be the name of the property. This is often used to make the name more explicit for the users.

If the name in the input mask is not filled in with the user's language, then this option allows you to specify the language taken into account. If the language is not specified, then the name of the property will be displayed.

  • ''Toggle property values to upper case when creating the property'' : this option is interesting, by checking this option you are certain that all properties will be automatically filled in capital letter whatever the input of the user, example value input ''Laminated steel'' -> value created ''LAMINATED STEEL''.
  • ''Add bubble info to propertiesBy checking this option an additional field will be available when setting up the property. On will be able to display different bubble info depending on the language defined in Windows.
