The advantage over the design library is that there is no link to the original component.

Typically, this type of interface is very useful for users who assemble, for example, profiles (not welded) or panels, all with different dimensions or details.

We can also recover existing parts from a case by duplicating and renaming them very quickly in a new project.

The utility takes parts and assemblies into account.

Although the utility accepts components with configurations, it is not recommended to use this type of component with CloneComponents because the duplicated component also includes all configurations. The "Configuration Publisher" function in SOLIDWORKS is more appropriate for components with families of parts.

The utility will retrieve properties whose name begins with "CC_", and propose them in the dialog box when duplicating the component. If the property points to a dimension, it will be displayed in the "Dimension of new component" area, and will drive the dimension in question. If the property is an alphanumeric value, it will be displayed in the "Specific properties" area, in order to enter the value.

If you wish to automatically launch the SmartProperties tool when a component is inserted, you can check the option .
