When modifying an assembly from the table, a drop-down menu lets you choose whether the new component dimension should apply to the active configuration, to all configurations, or according to the setting made when the part was saved (Dimension setting).

To compare with what happens in the 3D file, it's the same as when you modify a dimension in 3D, except for the "Specify configurations" option, which is not available in the Excel file.

  • Extract :

Here we choose whether to build the table with all the components of the head assembly, only the "Part" components or only the "Assembly" components.

  • Component identification property :

Each component (part, assembly, etc.) used in SOLIDWORKS is identified by a unique identification number, which can be ignored here.

  • Keeping components in order :

When the "Build table" function is used, this option can be ticked to list components in the order in which they are inserted in the assembly.

  • Reading level :

If you have a head assembly with several sub-assembly levels, and you don't want to use all of them, you can specify which level you want to use.
