Starting from a table model, the '' optionEditing columnsis checked by default. To be able to customize and edit your BOM columns, you must first check that this option is checked:

- right-click on a column.

- or in the '' drop-down menuTable model''.

When the option is unchecked, clicking on a column header allows you to sort the data alphabetically (or numerically) in ascending or descending order.

A project must include at least one BOM, and this must use a table template. A template is present by default in the utility's installation directory.

As soon as the '' optionEditing columnsWhen the '' button is pressed, you can modify column information (add, modify, edit, delete, etc.).

However, if this option is unchecked, it is no longer possible to add a column, change the case of the information contained in the column, or simply access this dialog box by clicking on a column header.

Let's assume that the '' optionEditing columnsis checked.

''Column typeSelect the type of information to be retrieved from this list.

Each time a column is edited, the tab icon changes to warn you to save the table model (xml).

The indicates that the table is up to date.

The indicates that the table has been modified and must be saved.

When you have applied processing on the document, you obtain the BOMs defined in your project.

As soon as the '' optionEnable property editingWhen '' is ticked, you have full control over the contents of the BOM.

Right-click on a line to :

  • Move the BOM component line up or down (numbering is not updated automatically).
  • Copy/Cut/Paste a BOM line (numbering is not updated automatically).
  • Delete a BOM line (numbering is not updated automatically).
  • Open the component in SOLIDWORKS.
  • Automatically open a Windows Explorer window containing the component.
  • Add an extra column.
  • Delete the right-clicked column. Check in the context menu (in brackets) that this is the name of the column you wish to delete.
  • Change the case of a column, switching all information to upper or lower case. This change is not reflected in the 3D document property.

By double-clicking on an item of information, you can modify its content. These modifications will automatically be transferred to the 3D document property, except for properties managed by SOLIDWORKS such as "File name", "Material", etc. So you don't have to open every component to make a change to custom properties.
