For a PDM administrator, it is often necessary to generate a report based on data from the PDM repository.

The PDMReport tool allows you to automatically generate a report based on more than 20 available queries.

For example, you can view all the operations performed by an operator, list all the files extracted on a workstation, or obtain a list of all duplicate filenames. The data can be exported to a CSV file or directly to an Excel file.


 


To automatically generate this type of report on a regular basis, you need to create a new PDM task


 


We'll name this task "PDMReport" and select the "myPDMtools" add-on:


 



Next, select the machine that will generate the reports:


 



For a scheduled task, you must confirm and reopen the task to access the scheduling options:



 



After restarting the system and selecting the scheduling section, we will configure the frequency at which the report is generated—for example, every day at 6:30 p.m.:


 


We're now going to configure the report, so select the " Tool Options " section.


 


We'll start by configuring the report template by clicking here:


 



We will now select a report template that was previously configured in the myPDMtools options of PDMReport. This PDMReport template will use an Excel file from the vault and start the report at a specific position in the file—in this example, column E, row 9:


 


We will now select the PDMReport template, as well as the name and location of the Excel report:


 


Now all you need to do is add the various queries to include in the report—for example, all of a user's operations on the day before the report was generated:


 


We'll also add a query to retrieve the list of extracted files on a computer:



 


And finally, the list of duplicate files:


 



Once the configuration is complete, simply confirm the task:
