Terminology
- ERP : Enterprise Resources Planning
For the purpose of this document, and by abuse of language, refers to any third party system that can be connected to PDM via the PDM Gateway software. In the majority of cases, this will be an ERP .
- PDM : Product Data Management

- Nomenclature:
An ordered list, which can be multi-level, of the components constituting an assembly.
- BOMBill Of Material (Nomenclature)
- BOM Head:
Highest-level document (or "Item") in a BOM (document from which the transfer is triggered)
- Workflow:
PDM process composed of different steps linked to each other by transitions (user actions), and allowing the state of a document to evolve.
- Log File:
File containing the log of the history of sequential events performed by the PDM Gateway application. These events are dated and classified in chronological order, in order to be able to analyze step by step the activity of the application and its interactions with the environment.
- VALID_STATUS:
PDM process state defined as the state that triggers the transfer to the third-party system (the exact wording of this state is configurable)
- PERIME_STATUS:
PDM process status defined as the status representing an "out-of-date" document (the exact wording of this status is configurable)
- Document PIECE:
Document not linked to another document in PDM. This can be either a SOLIDWORKS part (xxxx.sldprt file) or a non-SOLIDWORKS file that is not linked to another document (for example, a virtual document representing an undrawn part).
- Document ASSEMBLY:
Document being linked in PDM to other documents composing it. It can be either a SOLIDWORKS assembly (xxxx.sldasm file) or a non-CAD document with links to other documents (example: virtual document representing an undrawn assembly).
