Three methods are offered to the user for creating component boards from an assembly:

  • All parts
  • First level only
  • All subsets.

These 3 methods correspond to the 3 types of BOM offered by SOLIDWORKS. Using the BOM interface, the user can :

  • Deselect the components you don't want to appear in the component panel.
  • Reorder components.
  • Decompose a subassembly to build up its components to the next level.

Views are created on sheets in the order in which components appear in the BOM.

This step is therefore very important before launching the tool.  AssemblyBoard.

If you add, delete or rearrange components after creating the boards, you need to run the  AssemblyBoard   as the nomenclature will be modified.

The tool  AssemblyBoard   cannot be used directly in the 3D assembly environment.
