Three methods are offered to the user to create component boards from an assembly:

  • All parts
  • First level only
  • All subsets.

These 3 methods correspond to the 3 types of BOMs offered by SOLIDWORKS. Using the BOM interface, the user can :

  • Deselect the components that he does not want to appear in the component board.
  • Reorder the components.
  • Decompose a sub-assembly to build up its components to the next level.

Views are created on the sheets in the order that the components appear in the BOM.

This step is therefore very important before launching the tool AssemblyBoard.

If you add, delete or rearrange components after creating the boards, you have to run the AssemblyBoard as the nomenclature will be changed.

The tool AssemblyBoard is not directly usable in the 3D assembly environment.
