General options.

The button allows you to set general options.

Counters can be stored either in an XML file or in an SQL database.

XML file :

Counter XML file location :

This parameter defines the location of the counter XML file.

If the XML file is moved (to a server, for example), you can define its new location using the .

Options :

The first option creates a CSV file (one per counter) containing the history of values used in the counters.

By default, this file is saved in the "SmartCounter logs" folder in the SmartProperties.

The second displays a warning message when the end of the counter number is approached. The set value can be modified.

SQL base :

SmartCounter can also be used with a SQL database

The location and login details for the SQL database must then be entered.

The following buttons let you import or export your SmartCounter database:

  • To import an XML file into the SQL database, simply select the XML file to be imported:

  • Export the database in SQL format, define the location and name of the XML file to be saved:

A confirmation message indicates that the file has been saved successfully:

Please note: The SQL license supplied with PDM does not allow you to create another database. You must use another instance, such as SQL Express Edition.

Note : It is not possible to create a file with the history of values taken with the SQL Base option.

Web counter :

We've integrated a web connection into this tool.

Until now, you could manage your counters via an XML file or a SQL database. The disadvantage is that they are difficult to share, as they require a local server to store the files and access the common counter.

From now on, you'll be able to use a web connection to manage one counter per company. The advantage of a web counter is that it passes through a web server, so that all users belonging to the same company share the same counters.

Different companies in the same group can also be grouped together to share a common meter.

We'll also be able to share a meter with an external company so that it can access that meter.
