Select the folder(s) in the vault that you want to archive.

  


Archiving options:

    • Only the following extensions:

You can specify the file extensions that should be archived. To specify multiple extensions, use the semicolon as a separator;

This option will not be taken into account for the referenced documents, they will all be archived in any case.

    • Do not archive if the file needs to be regenerated in the CAD program:

Some documents need to be rebuilt, such as assembly files that have not been rebuilt since changes were made to their child files. To avoid archiving these documents, check this box.

    • Force archiving if file formats are not recognized by SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional

If this option is not checked, files with extensions not specified in PDM will not be archived

    • Force files to be archived if their references are checked out by another user

If this option is not checked, documents with extracted references will not be archived

    • Force files to be archived if the references cannot be found

When referenced files cannot be found in the SOLIDWORKS PDM vault, the parent files are not archived if the option is not checked

    • Keep the extracted file after checking out a version

When this option is checked, the document will be archived to create a version, and then checked out again

    • Delete the local copy

If this option is checked, the local copy will be deleted when the process is complete

    • Replace the most recent version of the file when archiving

This option is available only in SOLIDWORKS PDM 2017 and later; it allows you to overwrite the latest version of the file when archiving.



The reference analysis allows you to compare SOLIDWORKS references with PDM links and correct any missing PDM links.

If a PDM link is missing:

    - The PDM database is searched for the location of the file referenced in the PDM database.

    - If there is only one result, we update the SW reference to that file, and the PDM link is recreated during the archiving process.

    - If PDM finds multiple files, do not modify the links.

                 - If we have several files found in PDM and the option is checked:

We analyze the file tree and select the file that best matches the folder structure

Example:

Broken reference SOLIDWORKS C:\SW\2015\20 - Weldments\Corps2.sldprt -> Files found in PDM:

Coffr\Samples\myPDMtools\AdvancedBOM\Pieces\ Corps2.sldprt

      Coffr\Samples\myPDMtools\ 20 - Weldments\Corps2.sldprt

In this case, the selected file will be Coffr\Samples\myPDMtools\ 20 - Weldments\Corps2.sldprt because the end of the path, 20 - Weldments, best matches the SW part number.
