'Enable the tool in the context menu ':

For a number of tools, you can enable them using the drop-down menu (right-click on a folder in the vault).


 


If this option is not checked, the tools will not appear in the drop-down menu.

In this example, adding a \ creates a submenu: myPDMtools\PDMRebuild


You can create a comment when the PDMRebuild task archives the file. This comment will be visible in the data card.

The most important setting in PDMRebuild's options is whether to use the "Automatic Management" execution method or not.


SOLIDWORKS version:

PDMRebuild will use the version of SOLIDWORKS displayed here. This drop-down menu is not accessible; if the user wants to select a different version of SOLIDWORKS, they must change the version specified in the General Options of myPDMtools.


Type of reconstruction:

PDMRebuild offers 3 reconstruction options:

  • Force Reconstruction
  • Rebuild all configurations
  • Force a rebuild of all configurations


Extract and save dependencies:

This option automatically extracts and saves dependencies when the parent document is rebuilt


Replace the most recent version of the file when archiving:

This option is available only in SOLIDWORKS PDM 2017 and later; it allows you to overwrite the latest version of the file when archiving.


Do not include the following files in the reports:

The "Exclude files from the following reports" option allows you to exclude files that cannot be extracted, so they do not get stuck in the list of files to be processed.


 



Automatic management of PDMRebuild when archiving documents unchecked. When a document is modified and archived in the vault, you must manually place the affected documents that need to be rebuilt in the queue so that the scheduled task can process them.

  • All Folders - The user does not need to select the document to be rebuilt using the context menu. The scheduled task will scan all folders in the vault to rebuild all documents that reference a modified and archived component. These documents will be automatically added to the queue.
  • By Specifying Folders - The selected folders determine how this option behaves. The scheduled task will scan these folders to reconstruct all documents that reference a modified and archived component. They will be automatically added to the queue.


       


With PDMRebuild,all your documents will be updated following any changes.


If the "Enable tool in context menu" option has been checked, you can view the documents affected by the rebuild. If certain documents should not be rebuilt, you can uncheck them.

Example:

Right-click the SolidWorks part (1051009.sldprt) in the part library. When you do this, PDMRebuild displays the assembly(ies) and drawings containing this component that are not up to date. By default, all components are naturally checked. Click Apply to add them to the queue.


 


Once files have been added to the waiting list, they can still be removed from the list. Check the files and click Delete.

By default, all files are unchecked. PDMRebuild will rebuild them when the scheduled task is triggered.

In the example below, only two files will be rebuilt.
