Cumulative Counter Format


The cumulative counter allows you to create a counter by combining multiple counter formats.



 



  • The icon allows you to add a counter


 


Once the counter has been created, click Add.


 


You can add x counters. Each counter is added below the first one, and the preview of the next value is updated.


 


  • The icon allows you to add text to the counter.


 


 


This counter will change as follows:


A01-Text; A02-Text; A03-Text … A100-Text; B01-Text; B02-Text; etc…


Automatic Meter Format


 



The automatic counter allows you to create counters based on a SOLIDWORKS property value or a PDM attribute.


  • To use an automatic meter, you must:


Define the part number using SOLIDWORKS or PDM properties.

 


Specify which meter to use: a single-use meter or a cumulative meter.


 


  • Definition of an automatic counter.


This setting allows you to use variables to define the counter name. This name will be used to identify the automatic counter to be incremented (if one exists) or to create it using the default values defined in the counter type (simple or cumulative).

You can view the list of automatic counters, along with their values, by clicking the button  :


 


The button is used to define the property.


 



  • Specify the counter to use.


Define a simple counter or a cumulative counter.


 


Example of an automatic counter.


In this example of an automatic counter, the "Project" property is used with a cumulative counter.


Using the PDMProperties utility,I create a "Counter"property using the automatically generated counter.


 



In the three selected folders, the part files contain the "Project" property with a different value.


Configuration of the automatic counter used in this example:



 



When the application is run, three counters will be created with the same settings (see image above). One for each value of the Project property.


  • In the part files in folder 230-PowerPrint, the value of the Project property is 230.

  • In the part files in the 240 ProjectManager folder, the value of the Project property is 240.

This list contains the names of the three counters that were created and the last value used by each counter.
